The ban was implemented by MEITY. It stands for Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and regulates the apps that can function in the Indian demographic. The ban connot be lifted unless this department of the government gives the green signal to PUBG. The government had banned these apps due to some ongoing conflicts between India and China on the Himalayan borders.
The Updates
Krafton had announced the release of the game before 2021.

The Official PUBG Corporation also released a press statement on November 12 that its planning on releasing the game soon.
Few days ago, Maxtern, a well-known PUBG Mobile content creator tweeted that PUBG may release before January. If not then the release might take even later than March.
A few reports claim some new features of the app. In the new version, underage players will face a time-limit for health reasons. the company is also changing a few of the interface modules and the new background will be a virtual training ground.
But with the official government bodies still against the idea of bringing back the banned apps, the re-launch of PUBG Mobile India, seems distant and unsure.
