Deion Sanders‘ third year with the Colorado Buffaloes ended with a defeat against the Kansas State Wildcats. The game finished with a 24-14 score.
After 12 games, Colorado finished second to last with a 3-9 record. Only the Oklahoma State Cowboys did worse at 1-11, and they’ve been one of the weakest programs in college football over the past few years.
For a moment, it looked like Sanders might turn things around with a Week 7 win over the Iowa State Cyclones after a 2-4 start to the season. But the Buffs went on to drop the rest of their games, giving up an average of over 30 points each time.
The loss to the Wildcats in Manhattan was a testament of Colorado’s overall poor performance throughout the 2025 campaign. Liberty transfer quarterback Kaidon Salter failed to live up to the high expectations.
Salter threw 1 interception, completed 56% of his passes, and took 3 sacks against Kansas State. His season concluded with 15 total touchdowns, 7 interceptions, and 1770 scrimmage yards from 9 appearances.
It’s back to the drawing board for Coach Prime, but the devout Christian believes that Colorado will make a grand comeback in 2026.
When I win, I don’t mind the clap; when I lose, I don’t mind the boot. I played this game, I know this game like the back of my hand, and I love this game. I love all the ups and downs about it, and I’m built for every last bit of it. But if anybody’s built to reconcile into… Get this [program] back [on track], and I would do it if it’s the last thing I do on earth. Trust me when I tell you that this [the 2025 season] was the Last Supper.

Fans call out Deion Sanders’ Bible reference after falling to a 3-9 record with Colorado
The Buffaloes were predicted to take a step back this year without Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. Both players were instrumental in the Buffs finishing 9-4 in 2024.

At the very least, making it to a bowl game would be considered a successful season. But to qualify, a team must win at least six games. Colorado couldn’t even win four.
Sanders was already under massive scrutiny for his outspoken persona. Social media did not hold back when he made a bible reference to save face following the conclusion of his poor third year with the Buffs.
He sounds like an apostate invoking Christ for his own personal benefit. For a game that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of life.

Is he comparing himself to Jesus Christ?

I’m confused? Is he implying a future resurrection of the program?

Didn’t Jesus die afterwards?

Deion Sanders isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, even though an opening could be on the cards in Cleveland, where his son is the starting signal caller. The 58-year-old Hall of Fame cornerback signed a five-year $58 million contract with the University of Colorado. So, fans can expect Prime to assume his duty next year as well.
