Puka Nacua was supposed to enjoy his offseason trouble-free before starting his workouts and his contract negotiations with the Los Angeles Rams ahead of next season.

The wide receiver’s ‘joy’ was when he tried to flirt with Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney or when he was busy enjoying laps in the NASCAR pace car.

Or, when he thought that by hauling down pass after pass to end up registering his best season with the Rams, he hoped that those 2000+ combined receiving yards would be enough to land him a monster contract.

Usually, such performances tend to stoke the ego of athletes, and it seems Puka Nacua’s ego took him a bit too far, first with his controversial Anti-Semitic celebration practice on Adin Ross‘ live stream.

Then, a lawsuit emerged where a woman accused the 24-year-old of biting her, and also passing an Anti-Semitic insult during New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Even though he and his attorneys are fighting to stop the lawsuit from ruining his reputation, they had an update about his whereabouts, as the receiver has effectively stepped away from the spotlight.

The Rams receiver’s attorney, Levi McCathern, confirmed with The California Post on Wednesday that his client has been at a luxury treatment center in Malibu.

The attorney admitted that even though the lawsuit was not the determining factor in Puka Nacua’s decision to enter rehab, Madison Atiabi‘s allegations did play a part.

Even though the attorney confirmed that Puka Nacua was already visiting the rehab center before the allegations came to light, what caught the attention of fans were the pictures shared by the California Post.

The two photographs taken outside the treatment center show the star wide receiver looking visibly distraught. Since this was far removed from the confident style he portrays at other times, concerned fans took to social media to express concern and offer support, examples of which are listed below.

Puka Nacua has checked into the facility to ‘improve his overall behavior in every aspect of his life.’ To fans, this meant he had some sense of guilt over his actions from the last few months.

Rams HC wants Puka Nacua to be responsible

While football fans were not too happy when the first set of allegations came around, everyone wondered if his production on the field was enough to still give him a lucrative contract with the Rams.

He and I have a close relationship. We communicate clear, open, and honest. The play on the field is amazing. With what the play has dictated and determined, there is a responsibility in terms of representing all things… He knows that. Those are the expectations.

Sean McVay said

This was the head coach responding to that question when asked at the NFL League meetings. From his answer, it is clear that Sean McVay does not equate the production on the field to be something that can allow his star wideout to behave irresponsibly.

The Rams may have asked Puka Nacua to fix his problems. That could have led the two-time Pro Bowler to check into rehab well before training camp starts.
