The Packers historically had the edge over the Bears, but Odunze wants to change that.

Rome Odunze has been with the Chicago Bears for just three days, and he already hates the Green Bay Packers. By now, it’s natural for every Bear to dislike the Boston franchise.

The two sides have the oldest rivalry dating back to 1921 and plenty of bad blood to go around. Before Aaron Rodgers moved to New York, he terrorized the Bears as the Packers quarterback.

2024 is a new beginning; now perhaps it’s the Bears’ turn to have some fun of their own. With the first pick of the draft, they selected USC QB Caleb Williams, and on the 9th, they took Rome Odunze from Washington.

While appearing on the Talk 2 Me Show, the former Huskie spoke about his first day of hating the Packers.

First day hating the Packers, I already can’t stand them. Every time I see Green, I nearly puke[d].

The two sides have faced each other 206 times, with the Packers bagging 106 wins. However, they have only faced twice in the playoffs, each recording one victory. Matt LaFleur‘s Packers are currently on a 10-game unbeaten run against their NFC North rivals. The last Chicago win came in December 2018.

Rome Odunze is itching to dominate the NFL with the Bears

Ryan Poles gave up a lot in the offseason to make the Bears competitive. He got rid of last year’s quarterback, Justin Fields, along with parting ways with several of the aging offensive linemen.

Poles addressed that in the draft by selecting Kiran Amegadjie in the third round from Yale and defensive end Austin Booker in the fifth from Kansas. It shows the intention. The Bears want to protect Williams as much as possible. The Heisman winner is in good hands with Montez Sweat leading the line.

This has Odunze excited. His primary focus will be to partner with Keenan Allen and DJ Moore, providing the touchdowns.

Excited to attack, really. It really reminds me of all the key pieces that I had in college and the pieces coming together for the incredible seasons that we had. It really has that same feeling.
Rome Odunze said, per the Bears official website

The 21-year-old has the pedigree the Bears desperately require. Last season, he racked up 92 receptions, 1,640 receiving yards, and 13 receiving touchdowns. While this should excite Bears fans, his hatred for the Packers may have already doubled. Now their goal would be to beat their great adversaries twice in a single season for the first time since 2007.
