The Los Angeles Chargers suffered a disappointing defeat against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12, dropping their record to 7-4. Much of the criticism for this loss has been directed at Quentin Johnston, who infamously dropped what many called the ‘easiest’ catch of all time, leading to widespread criticism from fans all over social media.
After a poor rookie campaign, Johnston had high aspirations for the 2024 season. However, he has struggled to make significant contributions to the offense. In Week 12, he made a blunder by dropping the most catchable pass on third down in the fourth quarter, which could have led to a first down and potentially shifted the momentum in their favor.
Unfortunately, it forced them to settle for a punt, allowing the Ravens to capitalize by driving down the field, extending the lead to 14 points before clinching the victory at 30-23.
Even though the Chargers couldn’t score a single touchdown following the opening drive, Johnston’s drop is considered the breaking point for them, as they were down by mere seven points that could have been covered up with the scoring touchdown.

In addition to his earlier blunder, the second-year wideout also dropped another pass in the final drive of the Monday Night Football game. Although this drop was not critical, it highlights the ongoing narrative about his performance in the league.
Ranked second in the AFC West division, the Chargers are heading for their Week 13 game against the Atlanta Falcons before facing Super Bowl favorites, the Chiefs, in Week 14.
Fans react to Quentin Johnston dropping the easiest catches against Ravens
When Johnston dropped the crucial pass in the fourth quarter, fans realized it was the end for Los Angeles in the game. With just five targets, zero receptions, yards, and three drops, Johnson’s poor performance has made fans lose faith in the wide receiver, demanding the Chargers release him mid-season.
One fan wrote, “Quentin Johnston’s night in a nutshell: 4 targets, 0 catches, 3 drops… at this point, just send him packing,” joined by another, who wrote, “Guess he doesn’t understand his role is to catch the ball.” Here are some of the fan reactions:

Quentin Johnston never should have gone first round based on this pre-draft scouting report: https://t.co/f8y2CsQVgB

The 2023 first-round pick previously showed signs of improvement after scoring two touchdowns in the game against the Carolina Panthers. However, he has since failed to maintain consistency in his performance. This season, he has only recorded 354 yards, 22 receptions, and six touchdowns.
