LeBron James has had one of the most remarkable careers in basketball, winning virtually everything a player could dream of. Notwithstanding, his unprecedented longevity has drawn praise from fans and even veterans of the game. And it appears that consistency at the top level for many years could be traced to his training habits. Indeed, this was the view of former NBA champion and his Lakers teammate, Quinn Cook.

Speaking in a recent interview via Jefe Island, the former Los Angeles Lakers star talked about James and his intense workout routine. Cook recalled how he always met LeBron James so early at the team’s training facility, carrying weights by himself and sweating profusely.

As I make another left to get to the court, LeBron's in a full sweat. Drenched. Practice is at 10, I got there at 7. This is 7:20, Bron is in there, full sweat getting after it. This is Bron in 2015, four MVPs later, two rings later.

According to him, LeBron takes his fitness seriously and always shows up early to team training before the other players. Quinn Cook further remarked that, at the time, James was already a two-time NBA champion and had already racked up four MVP awards. Yet, he did the fitness drills like he was still trying to break into the team.

Cook won two NBA titles himself, the first with the Golden State Warriors in 2018, and the second one with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. Nevertheless, he admits seeing James take his training so seriously, made him have a different kind of respect for the NBA great. It’s not surprising that the 39-year-old has maintained a high level of consistency over two decades, given his training regimen.

Quinn Cook calls LeBron James a generational player

With LeBron James leading the USA to yet another gold medal at the Olympics and winning the tournament’s MVP, his collection of awards continues to grow. And this is why his former teammate Quinn Cook is of the opinion that the 39-year-old is a generational star.

This stuff doesn't happen by accident. Obviously, these guys are generational players, they're gifted… They work for it too. He was always the first one in the gym, every day.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar is now set for his 22nd season in the NBA, an impressive run at the top level since being drafted in 2003 by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Surely, James will hope to achieve more accolades with the team when the new season starts.
