The NFL Combine has a long history of being a step into the future for many young athletes. As they showcase their skills in front of the franchises, these athletes are also setting up potential meetings as the NFL Draft looms over them.

Quinn Ewers, the Texas Longhorns quarterback, is one among the many looking forward to the NFL Draft. The 21-year-old is eyed by a couple of teams including the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers, yet again failed to make a deep playoff run, despite a strong quarterback tandem of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.

Ewers also had a meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin amid the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He recalled the meeting as great, helping him get closer to the team.

It was great, it was great. Talked to Coach [Mike] Tomlin and just get to know him a little bit and him getting to know me.”

However, there was a very hilarious turn in the meeting that Ewers recalled in his talk with Aditi Kinkhabwala of CBS Sports. Normally, the coaches understand the football knowledge and the skills of the quarterbacks. Mike Tomlin took one step further and asked about Ewers’ academic performance.

“He [Tomlin] wanted to know what is, like what my final GPA was. It was around a 3.3, 3.4ish. He just wrote it down in his notebook. You know what they say ‘C’s get degrees.’ But I didn’t finish school. …,” Ewers said.

Quinn Ewers declared for the NFL Draft with one year left in his college. He even turned out a huge NIL deal that could become a huge financial mistake for him.

Quinn Ewers receive an almost good all-around review at Indianapolis

Quinn Ewers, currently considered a projected pick in the late rounds, did quite well for himself in the NFL Combine. The Texas Longhorns product has impressed many with his performance and could climb up the draft boards, considering the weak quarterback class.

The Southlake Carroll native impressed in his throwing session on Saturday after meeting with at least seven teams. Ewers showcased excellent accuracy on short and mid-range passes at Lucas Oil Stadium, reaffirming his strengths. While he faced some challenges with deep throws, his overall performance left a positive impression.

Steve Sarkisian, who coached Ewers in Texas also praised his performance, during the NFL Network’s coverage.

“[Quinn] can throw darts. I’m looking forward to seeing him hit every target today. I thought his deep ball dramatically improved over three years,” Sarkasian said.

Quinn Ewers had six formal meetings at the combine in addition to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The other teams include Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders, and Indianapolis Colts.
