Quinn Ewers turning down $8 million NIL offer and declaring for NFL Draft instead sparks wild reactions from fans – “That’s a huge financial mistake”
Quinn Ewers is projected to be a second or late third round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The draft class of 2025 is not the best for teams interested in drafting a franchise quarterback and even if it means to get paid in college, one quarterback is foregoing money by walking away from the game rather than entering the transfer portal.
Quinn Ewers has the chance to transfer and earn $8 million in the form of NIL money to transfer to another school and play out his final year of eligibility rather than stay and do so in Texas. However, the young man has his sights set on the NFL.
In the last three seasons, he stood to make $6 million by staying in Austin, Texas, and made another $1.4 million by signing with GT Sports Marketing, his agency in 2021.
Since announcing his decision to be a part of the NFL Draft, Ewers will be at the disposal of Lady Luck based on what team signs him. The quarterback will not be a top pick; practically, he will be a second or third-round pick, meaning he will sign a deal in between $6 to 10 million for four years.
Football fans not impressed with Quinn Ewers decision
If this is the case, Ewers would be better off playing college football, where he does not need to worry about being the starter as his position is indisputable. However, since Ewers intends to go to the NFL, he told Horns247 that his departure was one he wanted to do in good standing.
Texas was the only school where Quinn Ewers wanted to play football and that is a part of his decision to stick with his ultimate plan of moving to the NFL shortly. Despite the criticism from fans and the blaring pay gap, the quarterback understands he needs some time to get into an ideal position in the league.
Here’s how fans reacted to his decision on X:
Not going anywhere near the first round so that’s a huge financial mistake

That's an absolutely insane number. I kinda thought the $6M offer was wild. $4M was interesting.

This sport amazes me every day.
Impossible! That is more than he would get in the draft. 🤔

It is much more likely that tu made it clear that Ewers is no longer useful to them so his only option was the draft. I assume no college teams reached out to him which seems unbelievable; been pretty solid for tu.
Well that’s insane 🤨 Take the money and transfer and set yourself up for life.

No he didn’t. No one offered a 1 year deal for 8 million dollars, and if they did, that coach should be fired.

Wow. To think that his first year as a rookie he would have made much less than that in the NFL. Any ideas what school the offer came from?

Simply can’t be true

He didn't have any desire to play anywhere else and potentially have to play against the school he loves.

He'll get his QB'ing guru to work on some things with him and start developing as a Sunday QB.
Lot of money to turn down…
— Under Review (@ViewsinReview) January 16, 2025
I heard it was only $5 million…

Quinn Ewers has been an ardent follower of Christ and the money, although enticing, it was not enough to get him to stay and play out his final college season. The next goal for him is the NFL, where he will be a backup player for one or two seasons until he gets an opportunity to make his mark.
