Quarterbacks tend to last much longer than other players in football, and even among them, Aaron Rodgers has had a remarkably vast career. The 40-year-old has plans to continue for a few more years.

After Wednesday’s practice at the New York Jets facility, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams faced the media and answered a few questions. One of them was on the Jets’ veteran quarterback, Aaron Rodgers’ longevity.

When Williams found out from ESPN’s Rich Cimini that the 4-time NFL MVP had been part of the league for nearly two decades, it nearly blew his mind.

Twenty years? I didn't know that. Aaron. 20 years in the NFL? Man, isn't our RB, No. 0. 20 years old? So, he's been in the NFL as long as he's been alive. That's crazy, huh! I have to joke with him about that.

Williams was talking about the Jets fourth-round pick from Wisconsin, Braelon Allen. The running back was born a couple of months after the Green Bay Packers drafted Rodgers in 2005. Rodgers went on to play 18 seasons for the green and yellow.

26-year-old Williams entered the NFL as the third overall pick in the 2019 draft. Since then he won two Pro Bowl and one All-Pro title by recording 253 tackles in 70 starts.

During that time, he saw several changes in the quarterback room failing to cement their place. When the Jets announced they would be signing Aaron Rodgers, a renewed hope swept across the gang green locker room.

Williams was part of the group who found themselves fortunate to share the same jersey with a Super Bowl winner. However, it was short-lived as Rodgers tore his ACL on opening day, missing out on the entire 2023 campaign.

One year later, that excitement is still there, and Williams could only praise a leader like Rodgers. They were gym buddies and even lifted alongside each other.

To see how hard he works, to see how much he loves football, to see how smart he is, [how much he pours into our team and] pours into football is unbelievable. [And] that just trickles off to everyone else and makes everyone else better because he makes the captains better and the captains make the unit better. Having him on our team has been unbelievable. 20 years is a lot of experience.
