Former Warriors player Andre Iguodala took a bow from the basketball court around two years ago after capping it off with another ring for the GSW dynasty in 2022. Today, the Warriors organization honored their 2015 Finals MVP with a well-deserved jersey retirement ceremony, coincidentally following the matchup between Stephen Curry‘s squad and Klay Thompson, who is now a Maverick.

To commemorate his former teammate, Curry not only won the game for him but also donned an “I Want Iguodala” T-shirt. This was a reference back to 2019 when ESPN’s Max Kellerman made a bold claim that, despite Curry being the better shooter, he “wants Iguodala” to take the last shot over No. 30.

During the press conference, the 36-year-old reflected on his teammate’s career and shared his favorite Iggy story from almost a decade ago, when the GSW won their first title in 2015.

He wasn’t a big drinker. After we won the first championship in Cleveland, having a first shot with him. That was a big moment. It took a championship to get him to take a shot of tequila.
