“I’m on it. Send me the contract,” says Rafael dos Anjos asking for a fight against Justin Gaethje

Rafael dos Anjos is one of the very few top ranked fighters without a fight right now. The Brazilian is accompanied with another top rank fighter, Justin Gaethje. Many people believe that the lightweight fighter, Justin Gaethje is next in line for the lightweight title. Rafael is sitting without any fight having last fought in 2020.

Gaethje’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz went out on twitter calling out the top 5 ranked fighters for not taking a fight against Justin Gaethje. He wrote, “Everyone in top 5 running from Justin Gaethje.” To which the Brazilian fighter Rafael dos Anjos responded suggesting he’s down to fight the UFC lightweight interim title holder.

Is Rafael dos Anjos the right matchup for Justin Gaethje?

Justin Gaethje

Rafael dos Anjos is a former champion at the 155-pounds division and has a record of 30-13-0. There is no doubt that the fighter is a credible one. Though Rafael dos Anjos might be good on paper, many UFC fans believe that he is not the right match up against Justin Gaethje.

Justin Gaethje was the last man to fight the retired champion of the lightweight division, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Though the fighter lost the bout against the former champ he was looked at the right fighter to fight for the vacant title. Now, Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira are fighting for the vacant title. Dustin Poirier who is ranked number one in the division is fighting Conor McGregor for the trilogy.

This makes Justin the odd man out. But the UFC president Dana White has suggested that Gaethje is next in line. Will Justin Gaethje wait or go on to fight someone like Rafael dos Anjos?
