Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal were once again the stars of the show as they cruised past Tallon Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof in the second round at the Paris Olympics men’s doubles tournament. They entered the event with no prior practice together, with Nadal not even having enough match time in general over the last two years.

However, the duo showed their skills in the first round against the experienced Argentinian pair of Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez. It was a tough start for the newly formed Spanish duo, but they grew into the game to beat the No. 6 seeds.

They won the first set 6-4 and pushed the Dutch pair to play better in the next set. Unexpectedly, the Dutchmen forced a final 10-point tie-break after winning the second set. The match turned into another epic outing as team Spain fought hard to win the match 6-4, 6(2)-7, 10-2.

The Dutch duo put up a commendable fight but their unforced errors compared to their winner (25-3) aided Spain’s victory, who had a clear 80% first-serve percentage. With that, the last remaining Spanish pair moved into the quarterfinals.
