Delightful news for the Spanish tennis community as the latest reports confirm that Rafael Nadal will play men’s doubles with Carlos Alcaraz at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Just earlier today, images showed the Olympics’ prestigious 5 rings being set up at the Eiffel Towers, starting the countdown to the games.
The games are expected to commence on the 26th of July just a week after the Wimbledon. All eyes have been on Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, ever since the latter won the 2024 French Open. Three days later, the captain of the Spain team, David Ferrer, while announcing the squad for the Olympics, stated that Nadal and Alcaraz are going to be playing doubles.

Over the last year, there have been many questions about the duo being able to play but as the Olympics got near, it has finally been confirmed. Alcaraz, who is widely seen as the heir to Nadal, will be delighted to be playing alongside his idol who is also a former Olympic gold medalist.
Nadal on the other hand has prioritized the games and might even opt out of Wimbledon to train for it. The 38-year-old has already won gold in both singles and doubles and would hope to play the same for a perfect finish to his career. The other players on the Spanish team are Pablo Carreno Busta, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Marcel Granollers.
