Rafael Nadal commits on playing in Barcelona to bid for record 12th title

The clay court season is around the corner and the same name has started buzzing again- Rafael Nadal! Rafa is well-known as the ‘king of clay’. He was won a record 13 French Open titles.

Interestingly, Nadal has won the Barcelona Open 11 times, the highest single event ATP 500 wins. Nadal first competed at the Barcelona Open as a 16-year-old in 2003, and has made the Real Club de Tennis Barcelona a second home, winning 11 titles across 15 appearances. Nadal has lost just one set in posting a staggering 11-0 record in Barcelona finals.

The Spaniard holds a magnificent 61-4 record in Barcelona. And he is all set to compete once again this season at the 121-year-old club. Rafael Nadal has committed to play 2021 Barcelona Open. The full player field to be released next week.

Rafael Nadal has not played any tournament after Australian Open 2021

Nadal is currently under recovery and has missed all of the tournaments post the Australian Open. He was expected to return in Miami but confirmed his withdrawal citing he isn’t fully fit.

Nadal will go with full force in the clay season and will aim for his record 14th Roland Garros title.
