Amazon Prime Video’s documentary on the weeks that led up to Roger Federer‘s retirement, titled ‘Federer: Twelve Final Days’, was released on Thursday. The much-anticipated documentary covers behind-the-scenes interactions of the Swiss Maestro with his friends and family.
Federer was accompanied by his biggest rival and close friend, Rafael Nadal, in the last match of his career at the 2022 Laver Cup. After the game, the two were flooded with emotions as they cried their hearts out, owing to the occasion.

The documentary follows them back into the dressing room where the two share a heartfelt embrace while Nadal takes over the narration to explain how rarely such friendships bloom between rivals.
Lot of emotions, lot of memories. The feeling before a Grand Slam final against Roger..it’s different. Different atmosphere, different kind of pressure. To know that I will not have this feeling again for the rest of my life is..it’s something painful--Even if we had a great rivalry on court, we were able to have a very good friendship outside and that’s something very difficult to find in this competitive world.Rafael Nadal said in the Prime Video documentary
He explained his thoughts on Federer’s retirement, reminiscing about all the great battles they have had throughout their careers, and mentioned why he finds it painful.
