‘Rafael Nadal is incredible to play against’ : Victor Hanescu

Victor Hanescu, the former Romanian tennis international, still wonders how Rafael Nadal could be so fast on the court. The Romanian who was once ranked as high as no,26 in the World, has called the playing experience against Nadal ‘incredible’. Hanescu also said that he believes Nadal is a great human being and an extremely down to earth person.

On the tennis court, Nadal and Hanescu have squared off four times, with Hanescu winning once. That win came against a seventeen year old Nadal, at the Paris Masters Qualifiers. After that though, Nadal has beaten Hanescu in the three other times that they have met, and each time in straight sets. 

It’s incredible to play against Rafael Nadal, it’s impressive,” Hanescu said. “There were times when I couldn’t imagine how a person can move so fast and get to some balls that were not possible for others.” Hanescu concluded.

It’s no secret that Rafael Nadal loves the French Open. The clay courts of Paris have been kind to the Spanish man. Nadal has played 100 matches at Roland Garros and won 98 of them, lost just two. In the course of those 100 matches, he has also won an incredible 13 French Open’s, and in total 20 Grand Slams.

Nadal will have a chance to add to his tally as the French Open returns on the 17th of may. Yes the newly appointed General Manager of the French Tennis Federation, Amelie Oudea Castera, has said that the dates are likely to be from 17th May to 6th June. Interestingly she also said that the French Open will have spectators this year. But of course there will be some restrictions in place.
