Rafael Nadal, 20 time Grandslam champion is one of the greatest tennis of all-time. The Spaniard is an inspiration, both, on and off court. He last played at the Barcelona Open 2021, where he lifted his 12th title, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the finals.

The multi-time Grandslam champion turns 35 this year, and as a result, several questions are being asked in regards to his retirement. The Spaniard has suffered several injuries during his long career, but has always come back stronger. He has also cut down on his schedule this season, and is playing lesser tournaments to be in the best shape.

Rafael Nadal revealed that he would like to play as long as he is fit enough to do so. However, he stated that retirement was an inevitable part of a player’s career, and one cannot expect him to continue till the age of 45.

Of course, I will not be playing until the age of 45, no? I am always trying to do things as best as possible to play as long as possible. As everybody knows, of course it’s going to arrive one day that you cannot keep going,” said Nadal.

Rafael Nadal will next play at the Madrid Masters in the coming week. He enters as the top seed after Novak Djokovic withdrew from the tournament. The Spaniard has received a bye in the first round, and has a tough path to win his 6th title in Madrid.
