One of the biggest concerns and questions in the tennis world right now is the level of fitness that Rafael Nadal is at right now, because it will be the major factor that decides his comeback to the court. The 22-time Grand Slam champion has been inactive for a very long time now and the entire tennis world is waiting for his grand return.

I'll tell you about it. It's important to say that I don't want to confirm that I will play, I hope so. We'll see.Rafael Nadal on X
Rafael Nadal has already missed a number of major tournaments in 2024. He last appeared in the Brisbane International, where he picked up another muscle issue during his quarterfinal match against Jordan Thompson. He then played in an exhibition match, ‘The Netflix Slam’, at Las Vegas against Carlos Alcaraz. After suffering a defeat in that match, he decided to pull out of the Indian Wells after concluding that he was not yet at the level that he would have hoped to be.
The Spaniard is now hopeful that he will be fit for the 2024 Barcelona Open. The tournament will be played between April 15th and 21st, and Nadal boasts a sensational record of 66-4 there. He won the ATP 500 tournament 12-times. In fact, the center court in the tournament is named after him, which is enough to prove his legacy in the tournament.
What is Rafael Nadal can not make his comeback in the Barcelona Open?
In a recent interview, Rafael Nadal revealed that he has been suffering from abdominal issues for some time now. Although he is improving every day, he does not want to give a commitment yet because of the number of tournaments he has already had to withdraw from. He also said that if he does not take part in the Barcelona Open, he will try to push for the Madrid Open.
“I have got abdominal issues for a few months. I’m moving forward day by day, week by week. I’m not ruling anything out but I can’t say that I’ll play here or there. I would love to be able to play in Barcelona, and otherwise it will be Madrid,” he said. (Source: RTVE)
