Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:

Rafael Nadal wants his son to choose a different sport

He doesn’t want his son to pick the tennis racket for his career, though, he admitted that it would be his son’s decision. The 37-year-old also made it clear he won’t be another typical father justifying all of his son’s actions.

I would prefer that (my son) do another sport. It pains me to say it with everything that tennis has given me… If he wants to play tennis, I will support him. But if he plays another sport, better. I wouldn't like to be a typical father who justifies everything children have done. At the moment, I'm not in the position.
Rafael Nadal told LaSexta

Nadal missed almost an entire 2023 due to the hip flexor injury he suffered during the Australian Open, and later underwent surgery. He played his first comeback match at the Brisbane International this year but unfortunately, sustained an abdominal injury, missing the next three months.

The Barcelona Open was the Spaniard’s first match since that abdominal niggle. After an easy win over Italy’s Flavio Cobolli, he got knocked out of the event, losing to Australia’s Alex de Minaur. The 37-year-old Nadal is a 12-time champion in Barcelona.

He will next participate at the Mutua Madrid Open, where he will face America’s Darwin Blanch in the Round of 128. This will be their third encounter, having met at the 2022 Roland Garros and 2022 ATP Finals.

In case you missed it!
