‘Rafael Nadal will be missed at the Miami Open this year’ : James Blake

It was just a matter of time before the news came, and it finally did come. Rafael Nadal the World no.3 had withdrawn from the Miami Open 2021. Officially Nadal has said that he needs to make a complete recovery before the clay court season starts in Europe.
Nadal as we all know loves playing on clay and has been the most successful on that surface , winning 13 French Open titles too. But he did thank fans in the US and also the Spanish community in Florida for their support in previous years.
James Blake the tournament director at the Miami Open said that he and the tournament will miss Rafael Nadal but the players health must always be the number one priority. Blake said they will hope to have Rafael Nadal back at the event next year. The Miami Open director did not end before pitching in for the event, reminding fans that even with all the withdrawals, Miami Open will still welcome some of the best players in the World.
James Blake said, “Rafa will be missed at this year’s event, but we understand that a player’s health must remain No. 1 priority. We hope to have him in Miami next year. “ Blake continued, “The Miami Open team is excited for the opportunity to welcome an incredible roster of leading players next week.”
