Rafael Nadal wins the CEU Angel Herrera Award in recognition of his ‘humility, effort, discipline and social commitment’

Rafael Nadal, 20 time Grandslam champion has been awarded the CEU Angel Herrera Award in the Ethics and Value category. The citation for the award highlights Rafael Nadal’s success as a professional player and the charitable work he has undertaken through his foundation.
Through the CEU Angel Herrera Award, the San Pablo CEU University Foundation recognizes the contribution of people, institution and companies towards a better society. The website contains a detailed statement about Nadal’s success in his personal as well as his professional life. He is expected to receive the award virtually on January 22, 2021.
“This award recognizes his unquestionable professional and personal career as a benchmark for millions of people,” the statement reads. “The tennis player has received numerous national and international awards and has been working for years in Spain and India with the aim of reinforcing the social integration and personal development of children and young people through sport through the Rafa Nadal Foundation,” the statement reads.
Rafael Nadal, an inspiration on and off the court
Rafael Nadal, is undoubtedly one of the greatest tennis players of all time. The Spaniard has won a record 20 Grandslam titles and is level with Roger Federer in the race for most Grandslams won. However, what makes Rafael Nadal stand out is his humility, humbleness he portrays off court. The Spaniard is not just an inspiration for millions on court, but inspires and helps several people to lead a better life with this charity work.
Rafael Nadal has his own charity foundation which was founded in 2010, and has it’s grassroots in Spain and India. The foundation aims to help the children and youth in their development by using education and sport as a medium. The Spaniard has also been involved in fund raising activities to help families who have been affected by the pandemic.
Rafael Nadal has also established the Rafa Nadal Academy in Spain, a state-of-the-art facility where young tennis players can pursue tennis while continuing their education. The Academy was also established in Kuwait and Mexico.
