Ever since the Atlanta Falcons drafted Michael Penix Jr. using their eighth overall pick, they have been at the prime top of discussions. And being in such type of spotlight reminds head coach Raheem Morris of one special couple, who hit most of the headlines since the 2023 NFL regular season– Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

The Couple stood at the center of the limelight throughout the 2023 season and they continue to steal the spotlight as they move forward with their relationship. Interestingly, the Falcons head coach seems to relate to the celebrity couple quite a lot lately.

For better context, at the beginning of the offseason, the Falcons made the big move by acquiring Kirk Cousins in a $180 million deal and made him the highest-paid quarterback in the league. Given, that the quarterback is in his prime, the Falcons’ odds for the Super Bowl increased extensively. 

However, when the 2024 draft began, the franchise immediately drafted Penix Jr. in the first round using their eighth overall pick. This draft move by the Falcons General Manager Terry Fontenot came as a shock to many, including owner Arthur Blank. 

Raheem Morris’ unconventional comparison to Taylor Swift

While talking about the intense spotlight bestowed on the Falcons amidst the NFL draft, Morris made a bizarre comparison of himself and Fontenot to the 14-time Grammy winner and the star tight end. 

I hate for it to be like the story of the draft. I know it will be. That's just how our world is based and is driven, but I can't say it's annoying. No. Because it's what people want to see; it's piqued more interest. What's [Travis] Kelce's girlfriend's name? I feel like her right now. I'm Taylor Swift and [Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot] is Kelce, I guess.
Raheem Morris told the reporters

Swift and Kelce’s romance kicked off at the very beginning of the 2023 NFL regular season and the limelight on the celebrity couple intensified when Kelce led his team to win their second straight Super Bowl victory.

The Falcons, on the other hand, now have two solid quarterbacks on the roster, which means if the recently-recovered Cousins suffered another injury, the team will have a good backup as Penix Jr. Moreover, by the time his rookie contract ends, he will have gathered good experience and skills from the top quarterback.
