When it comes to the fastest player in the NFL, the one that instantly comes to mind is Tyreek Hill, aka the Cheetah. Yet Hill’s Miami Dolphins teammate Raheem Mostert revealed that the All-Pro receiver isn’t even the fastest on their own team.
While appearing on the ‘Third and Long’ podcast with former 49ers and current Jacksonville Jaguars defensive lineman Arik Armstead, the Mostert claimed that Hill wasn’t the fastest in the Dolphins team.

You’re looking at him. That’s me. I’m taking that title. I’m the fastest.Raheem Mostert said
It’s definitely a bold claim considering the Dolphins side has WR Jaylen Waddle and RB De’Von Achane, who could easily lay claim to the fastest tag. Mostert revealed that they often argue with each other and then line up on the track to settle things.
Everybody goes back off track, but I’ve got that too. I’m a three-time Big Ten champ; I won national championships twice.Mostert added
Football fans can expect a follow-up reply to this from Tyreek Hill. Hill, known for issuing race challenges, won’t let this snub slide easily.
Is Raheem Mostert really faster than Tyreek Hill?
There’s truth to the Purdue graduate’s claims. During the 2015 NFL combine, Mostert completed the 40-yard dash in 4.34 seconds. He has won Big 10 titles for 60, 100, and 200 meters in college.

However, Tyreek Hill had a better combine record just one year later. In 2016, the 30-year-old dashed 40 yards in just 4.29 seconds. Even De’Von Achane surpassed Mostert by .02 seconds (4.32).
The first day [after the Dolphins drafted Tyreek Hill], this man hit like a slant and went, and the way he ran, bro, out of there, I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, no, he’s a glitch.'Mostert added
Hill was Miami-bound after failing to agree to a suitable contract extension. Just two years after winning the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hill opted to move down South and join the Dolphins in 2022. He signed a four-year, $120 million extension, including $72.2 million guaranteed, that made him one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL.
He has his back turned against the defender; he catches the ball, and instantly he’s already ready to do a double-up move. It makes no sense.Mostert continued about Hill’s first training session with the Dolphins.
Despite Hill’s prowess as a speedster, Mostert has held the title of fastest ball player in the league since 2018. Per the Miami Herald, Mostert clocked 23.09 MPH in Week 2 of the 2020 season. He surpassed the 23 MPH set by Hill back in 2016.
However, there’s another beast that everyone is excited to see in 2024. Texas Longhorns Xavier Worthy shattered the NFL combine record by completing the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds. As things would have it, he is a potential draft pick for both the Chiefs and the Dolphins.
