Jakobi Meyers is looking for a new adventure. After three seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, the 28-year-old wide receiver believes that it’s time for a change of scenery.
The Raiders are in a bind. Despite going through an overhaul in the coaching department and signing a new quarterback, the Raiders are 2-5 and rooted to the bottom of the AFC West.
Last week, divisional rivals handed the Raiders a 31-0 shutout, further demoralizing the players. And this run is likely to continue with fixtures including the Denver Broncos (twice), the Dallas Cowboys, the Los Angeles Chargers, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Chiefs (week 18) on the horizon.
To make their situation worse, players are looking to jump ship ahead of the November 4 trade deadline. Jakobi Meyers, pass rusher Maxx Crosby, inside linebacker Elandon Roberts, and veteran running back Raheem Mostert are among the names who could leave the Raiders.
Crosby may stick around because the Raiders don’t want to lose their best player on defense. Meyers’ situation is different. He handed in a trade request in August and would love to play for a team aiming for championships.
When ESPN’s Ryan McFadden asked Meyers if he still wanted to be traded to another team, he replied, “Oh, for sure.” However, he will not put pressure on the Raiders brass.
I am a professional at the end of the day. I am just trying to play good football.

Does he still desire to be traded?
“Oh, for sure. But I'm a professional at the end of the day. I'm just trying to play good football.”
The undrafted wideout is in the last year of his three-year, $33 million contract. It makes sense for the Raiders to trade him while there’s still a market for him.
According to SB Nation‘s Tristan Khun, Meyers has an 85% or higher chance of being traded before the deadline.
As the best receiver on the market, the expectation is that Meyers could return the Raiders another pending FA, young player, or draft compensation. As of now, the Raiders are projected [to have] a 2027 4th round pick as compensatory value for the loss of Meyers if he walks this off-season, so the starting point in negotiations will likely be around there.
Why did Jakobi Meyers miss the Chiefs fixture?
Meyers missed a couple of practice sessions prior to the Chiefs’ game. McFadden revealed that he was dealing with toe and knee injuries.

He sat out even though offensive coordinator Chip Kelly said Meyers was good enough to practice. Cameras caught him on the sidelines watching his teammates practice drills.
With Tre Tucker taking over as the lead receiver, Meyers has had to settle for WR2 on the Raiders’ roster. In five games, he has accumulated 29 receptions for 329 yards (11.3 yards per catch). However, he has yet to score a touchdown.
2024 was Meyers’ best year as a professional football player. He caught 89 passes for 1027 yards and 4 touchdowns. Former Raiders WR Davante Adams called Meyers the NFL’s “Best Kept Secret” when these two shared the locker room in Vegas.
I’m learning something new, and the thing is, you can learn in so many ways, like I learned from new guys. I learned so many things from Jakobi [Meyers] this year that I didn’t know before. He was basically the best-kept secret in the league for me.
Davante Adams had said (H/T: Raiders Newswire)
Since entering the league, Meyers has played 97 games across seven seasons with the New England Patriots and the Raiders. He has registered 422 receptions for 4921 yards and 20 touchdowns.
