Wife of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and New York’s first lady, Rama Duwaji, struck a fashion statement at the New York Knicks’ Thursday championship parade. She wore a custom dress made from bootleg Finals merchandise as Knicks fans gathered in Lower Manhattan to celebrate the Knicks’ first title in 53 years.

28-year-old Duwaji came alongside Mayor Mamdani in a one-shoulder design by downtown designer Miss Claire Sullivan. Her dress was a mix of white, orange, and blue colors, which represent Knicks NBA finals T-shirts that Sullivan customized. She styled the t-shirt by tucking and tying it into an asymmetrical silhouette.

She paired this custom piece with a black midi skirt and completed her look with layered gold necklaces. She combined it with orange puff ball earrings and black Nike Air Rift sneakers. On the other hand, Sullivan is a popular designer who has previously styled Lady Gaga, Rosalia, and Addison Rae. The designer shared a version of the design on Instagram earlier this week. The model in her post wore a layered white tulle tutu instead of the black skirt Duwaj wore at the parade.

“Knicks in five…LFG NYC,” Sullivan captioned the post. Her post drew attention from stars including Addison Rae, who commented, “R u kidding,” while Lisa Rinna wrote, “So good!!!!” Ella Emhoff added, “Holy S—TTTTT.”

Sullivan also wore the original tutu version at the Knicks‘ 94-90 victory celebration over the San Antonio Spurs during game 5. Apart from that, Duwaji’s appearance marked one of her most public fashion moments since Mamdani became New York City’s mayor in January. Duwaji became the city’s first Gen Z and first Muslim first lady and has largely maintained a low public profile while continuing her work in illustration and ceramics.

Celebrity fans bring style to the Knicks parade celebration

Duwaji’s custom outfit was among several notable fashion moments during the championship celebration, which drew a mix of Knicks players, celebrities, and longtime supporters.

Actor Timothée Chalamet represented the home team in an orange Chrome Hearts hoodie, while singer Teyana Taylor arrived in a logo-printed white jumpsuit paired with a bright orange wig. Taylor also carried an orange and blue Hermès Birkin bag that she later showcased on social media.

Mariska Hargitay wore orange pants and a “Brilliant Thing #11 The Knicks” T-shirt referencing her Broadway production Every Brilliant Thing. Her son, August, joined the celebration in a custom “Marknicksa Hargitay” shirt in Knicks colors. Martha Stewart also embraced the occasion with a “Knick of Time” T-shirt.

Finals MVP Jalen Brunson’s family coordinated around the star guard’s achievement. His daughter, Jordyn James, wore a tank top reading “My Dad’s The MVP, Hallelujah,” while Ali Brunson sported a Knicks No. 11 tank as she held her daughter atop the family float.

Jordyn Woods, fiancée of Karl-Anthony Towns, brought back the orange ostrich Tux Clutch Mini from her brand Woods by Jordyn, an accessory she carried throughout the Knicks’ playoff run. She paired it with Towns’ No. 32 jersey, white jeans, and a custom diamond Knicks pendant.

Mary J. Blige attended in a white leather romper customized with Knicks championship patches and her initials, accessorized with diamond jewelry. Actress Lindsay Lohan joined the celebration remotely by posting a photo with a custom “Lohan 86” Knicks jersey on Instagram.

The parade concluded with Alicia Keys taking the City Hall stage in a black leather Pelle Pelle jacket and matching leather pants to perform “Empire State of Mind” as New York celebrated the Knicks’ long-awaited championship victory.
