Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams has signed a three-year, $33 million contract extension with the team, according to Drew and Jason Rosenhaus. The contract reportedly includes $23 million in guaranteed money.
Williams, a fifth-round pick out of Notre Dame, has been the Rams’ starting running back for the past two seasons. He made the Pro Bowl in 2023 and has recorded back-to-back 1,100-yard rushing seasons. Over three seasons, Williams has totaled 2,582 rushing yards and 26 rushing touchdowns, along with 464 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.
Last season, Williams rushed for a career-best 1,299 yards and 14 touchdowns, accounting for 73.6% of the team’s rushing yards. However, he also struggled with ball security, fumbling five times in the regular season and once in the playoffs. He has focused on improving his grip strength during the offseason.
Williams reported to training camp on time and has taken part in all practices, despite entering the final year of his rookie contract. He is due to make $5.34 million this season. The St. Louis native, who grew up a Rams fan, expressed his commitment to the team. He told the media:
I want to play for the Rams. That’s who I want to stay with, and I know it will work out.

General manager Les Snead has shown consistent interest in the running back position, drafting one in eight straight drafts. Despite selecting Blake Corum in the third round in 2023 and trading up for Jarquez Hunter in 2025, Williams remains the focal point of Sean McVay’s backfield.

According to some social media users and Rams fans, the team underpaid the running back while some believe that the deal was sufficient. The earlier section pointed out to Kyren Williams’ stellar numbers from the last two seasons to explain their arguments.

There’s very few groups of people who have taken more L’s over the past couple years than people who continue to doubt Kyren Williams’ status as the clear cut Rams RB1. https://t.co/yqEmlzyKhE

Those on the other side of the debate thought the LA Rams spent more than what was needed for Williams. Some users were quick to point out the fumbles from last season.
