Rams’ Matthew Stafford Hilariously Weighs in on Flag Football Adventures at 2028 Olympics
Matthew Stafford joked that he will be too old to play flag football in 2028, so perhaps a coaching gig would be the best fit for him.

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is set to host the first-ever flag football event. Fans of the sport are eagerly waiting for the world to know more about it. One of them is Matthew Stafford.
Ever since the NFL announced that it would allow teams to let players try out for the Olympics, each fan has created a different fantasy team. There’s bound to be one that contains Stafford as the quarterback.
However, does the 37-year-old feel he can represent the country on the biggest stage in a different spot? Stafford chuckled to hear the proposal.
You talking about coaching, or what? Sure. I mean, nobody’s going to want me to but yeah, sure. It’d be fun. I’d coach.
Matthew Stafford jokingly replied in the Thursday presser
Matthew Stafford's response to the possibility of being on the flag football team in the 2028 Olympics was pretty funny lol

Despite the pushback from the current USA Flag Football team, fans want to see ‘Dream Team 2.0.’ Back in 1992, the NBA allowed players to enter the Olympics for the first time. They assembled the ‘Dream Team’ of All-Stars, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Scottie Pippen, Karl Malone, John Stockton, and Patrick Erwig.
Will Stafford be part of the NFL Flag Football dream team? Even if he doesn’t make it, the committee can shortlist him among the candidates for the coaching gig if they want to hire a young, fresh face instead of the more seasoned NFL veterans.
Who are the Rams players most likely to end up on the USA Flag Football roster besides Matthew Stafford?
Every roster spot on the flag football team is up for grabs. Players like Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons and Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson are waiting for an opportunity to show their skills.

If Stafford were 10 years younger or at least near the age of Patrick Mahomes, then perhaps he would be one of the top names running for the quarterback position.
On the other hand, Mahomes is not particularly interested in switching to a different sport in his 30s.
I’ll probably leave that to the younger guys.
Patrick Mahomes said
Chin up, Stafford, because the Rams’ head coach, Sean McVay, is completely okay with his players’ interests in flag football.
If that’s something that players say they want to be able to do, then I think it’s a really cool experience for them to be able to be a part of while also acknowledging that, man, there are some other guys that have been doing it… I think it’s great.

One of the Rams players who is a perfect fit for flag football is 24-year-old wide receiver Puka Nacua. The BYU graduate burst onto the NFL scene and mesmerized the audience with his stutter steps and excellent body flexibility.
Nacua is also very agile. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Nacua clocked 21.05 mph in 2023 and consistently kept his pace above 20 throughout the year. During his first two years in LA, Nacua caught 184 passes for 2476 yards (averaged 13.5 yards per catch) and scored 9 touchdowns.
Another Rams player the selection committee can look at is pass rusher Jared Verse. The Florida State graduate’s rookie season proved that McVay has found Aaron Donald’s replacement. Verse recorded 57 tackles and 6 sacks. Pro Football Focus graded Verse 86.2 (9th best) as he bagged the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year Award.
