The New York Jets experiment with Aaron Rodgers and friends is over. The superstar QB has been informed the franchise is moving in a different direction, which also meant his friends, Davante Adams and others, had to find jobs elsewhere.

Initially, they granted Adams permission to find a trade partner. But that was going to be difficult considering the colossal cap space interested parties would have to deal with. A few days later, when that situation became obvious, the New York Jets released the veteran wideout.

Now the question on football fans’ minds was where he was going to turn up. His stance while with the Las Vegas Raiders made it clear he wanted to be a part of a winning culture. With very few options open, some felt he would have to take a slightly inferior option and hope his new team builds a solid roster in free agency.

This news from the ESPN Insider went viral, particularly for that last part. Fans were more shocked on the Los Angeles Rams’ decision to hand Davante Adams such a massive deal. This at a time when they want to walk away from Cooper Kupp, one of the most reliable receivers on their squad.

Everyone understands that Kupp’s injury history does place question marks. But the team could have kept him, a receiver who quietly goes about his work, at a reduced contract. Moreover, his relationship with QB Matthew Stafford was one of the reasons for their success.

Fans believe Rams did not gain by paying Davante Adams

Along with the one-year $10 million extension to Tutu Atwell, fans believe the Los Angeles Rams have not done right by Cooper Kupp. One on hand, they feel Davante Adams’ recent performances suggest he is not a major upgrade over the longtime Los Angeles Rams wideout.

Instead, his struggles, despite playing with a known quarterback last season, had everyone believing his time was up. But this new two-year contract worth $26 million annually shows that the Rams think Adams has a lot to offer and is a step up from Kupp. Frustrated fans vented on social media, examples of which are below.

Davante Adams might go out and prove fans wrong. He is still a three-time All-Pro whereas Cooper Kupp just has one such stat on his career graph.

On top of that, the California native has shown that he can stay healthier than Kupp. Maybe it was the combination of all those three that led them to sign him.
