It was nothing short of a narrow escape for Randall Cobb and his family, who managed to escape a disastrous fire at their Nashville, Tennessee home, earlier this week. The wide receiver for the New York Jets posted a gratitude-filled message via Instagram revealing that he and his family were lucky to be alive.

Randall Cobb‘s wife Aiyda posted a story to her Instagram wherein she revealed that a Tesla charger ended up catching fire in the garage late in the night and quickly spread throughout their house.

We got out of the house with nothing but the clothes on our back and no shoes our feet.

Fortunately for the Cobbs, they managed to get out along with their three children just in time.

Randall Cobb further managed to get back into his house and rescue their family dog, Louie, before the Nashville fire department got onto the scene. The wideout expressed his gratitude towards the firefighters for “their swift action.”

I can’t get the image of the brave firefighter getting into position out of my head; he didn’t even have water to shoot yet. I truly thought the cars were going to explode and that we would lose him to this tragedy. He is a true hero. Unfortunately, we don’t know how much, if anything, will be salvageable, but this has been a reminder that nothing is more important than the health of our family.

The former New York Jet thanked his friends from the neighborhood, who offered to assist them until the renovations on their house was completed by offering them a temporary house to stay in. It is indeed a matter of great fortune that the wideout and his family managed to escape unscathed from the incident because they could have risked being seriously injured if they were not cautious.

Cobb, aged 33, is currently a free agent. He has been one of the favorite targets of Aaron Rodgers throughout his career. Having played 10 of his 12 seasons with the Packers, he ranks fifth in franchise history with 532 receptions, 47 touchdown receptions, and 11th overall in receiving yards with 6,316 yards overall.
