Randy Arozarena is still unhappy with Cal Raleigh. Despite the catcher claiming that there is “no beef” between them, the 2-time All-Star feels different. On Thursday, he continued to throw shade at his Seattle Mariners teammate.
The incident between these two started after the USA-Mexico game. With both teams winning their first two games, the clash between them became a huge one.
The United States had not beaten Mexico in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) since 2006. Since that triumph, they had lost in the next three attempts.
During this intense game, Arozarena would try to shake hands with Raleigh. In his first at-bat, the outfielder would extend his arm for a handshake with the U.S. catcher.
While Raleigh claimed it was “good to see” him, he declined to shake his hand. Check out the video regarding this below:

This did not sit well with Arozarena. After the USA’s 5-3 victory, the 29-year-old sounded off on his Mariners teammate and proceeded to drop some NSFW comments.
That fake a** “good to see you” he hit me with? He can shove it straight up his a**. I’m out.

How do you think I should respond to Cal Raleigh? How should I put it to him?
I want to say it in four languages.
First in Spanish: The only thing he should be thankful for is having such… pic.twitter.com/3uuyjkZrmn
This development shocked the MLB fanbase on social media. At first, many were confused as to whether this was an actual attack by him or just some sarcastic comments.
A day after this, Raleigh had a FaceTime call with the reporters. While the 2025 Home Run leader did not field any questions, he expressed that he did not like how the situation had unfolded.
I love Randy, I do. I hate that this is a thing. There’s no beef. When we get back to Seattle, he’s my brother.

Cal Raleigh issued a statement claiming he reached out to Randy Arozarena via text today. He took only one question, but wouldn’t say what “responsibility” to Team USA prompted him to leave his Mariners teammate hanging.

Arozarena would not make any comments regarding this incident before Mexico’s clash against Italy. On Thursday, Willson Contreras reignited this by sharing a video of him embracing Fernando Tatis Jr. during the clash between Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.
Two different displays of emotion were shown in the World Baseball Classic.

Contreras would then share several videos of this incident on his Instagram story and compare the two situations. Arozarena would then reshare one of his stories on Instagram. In another story, he would share an image of himself laughing with Brazil’s Osvaldo Carvalho.

He clearly feels disrespected by Cal Raleigh….
Showing that other countries can still show love to each other.
Not great right before the Mariners season 😬

Raleigh and Arozarena were two of the team’s top performers last year during their run to the American League Championship Series (ALCS). While the former led the home run category with 60, the latter set a career high in home runs in one season at 27.
With their ALCS Game 7 loss, the last thing the Mariners fans want is to have some tensions in the clubhouse between two top players ahead of the new campaign.
Dodgers’ star blasts Randy Arozarena for his actions at WBC
Randy Arozarena’s name stole several headlines this week after he spoke out against Cal Raleigh. Following his explosive words during the World Baseball Classic, a Los Angeles Dodgers star came to the defense of the catcher and blasted the outfielder.

The Dodgers star here is Will Smith. The 2025 World Series Game 7 winner did something similar to Raleigh in the 2023 edition.
During that game between the two countries, Arozarena would attempt a fist-bump with Smith. The USA catcher was having none of it and turned down the request.
Throwback to when Will Smith didn’t want to give Randy Arozarena a fist bump when he stepped into the plate because of the rivalry 👀

The 30-year-old had some strong words for Arozarena this time. While speaking with the reporters, he expressed that Raleigh had warned his Mariners teammate to not to try any such things with him. Despite his warning, he tried to shake his hand.
I mean, Cal told Randy not to do it. And then Randy still does it. And then he talks about it and makes it a thing. And that’s his teammate.

Arozarena and Mexico ended up losing 9-1 against Italy in their final pool stage game. This saw them being eliminated from the tournament with Italy and the United States moving on to the knockout stages.
