The world knows Randy Moss as one of the greatest wide receivers to play the game. Some of the accomplishments he is known well for are being the Offensive Rookie of the Year, a six-time Pro Bowler, a four-time First-Team All-Pro player, the all-time leader in receiving touchdowns, and a Hall of Famer.
After today, he has earned another feather for his cap, perhaps one that eclipses his past accomplishments. Randy Moss has beaten cancer.
The former Vikings and Patriots legend recently announced that he was taking a hiatus from his professional duties as a part of the Sunday NFL Countdown crew on ESPN.
I’ve told y’all over the last couple of weeks about me battling something internally and your boy is a cancer survivor.
Randy Moss started off the video by addressing the elephant in the room
Moss had told the fans that he was taking some time off as he was “battling something” and that he requested “all the prayer warriors to put their blessing hands” on him and his family.
In an update for the fans he released earlier today, Randy Moss announced he has successfully undergone surgery for bile duct cancer. He did not reveal what stage of cancer he was diagnosed with, but he looked feeble and is currently taking the support of a cane.
Despite being exhausted Randy Moss was in high spirits throughout his announcement
The NFL legend told the fans that he had been admitted the last week and underwent a six-hour Whipple procedure at the finest hands of “the best that Charlotte has to offer,” and came out without any complications.

I am a cancer survivor. Some trying times, of course, but, you know, we made it through. And for that I thank you all…I did have cancer. They found it in the bowel duct, right in-between the pancreas and the liver. So my doctors they went in, I had a six-hour surgery.

The anonymity of his condition created a lot of suspicion among the fans. Former NFL players Larry Fitzgerald and Brett Favre had revealed via social media that Moss was dealing with cancer, however, Thaddeus Moss, Randy’s son, denied these reports and called them out over this attempt to stir up attention. He has since deleted that post.

Although his surgery to remove the cancer from his bile duct was successful, Randy Moss will still need to go through chemotherapy and radiation treatments, but he is not sweating it!
It’s going to be a tough road with some chemo and radiation, but like I said, man, I’m good!
Randy Moss said during the live stream
He is taking his fight against cancer a step further.
Moss is using this opportunity to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Fans can purchase his merchandise via the Randy Moss website and the proceeds will go to organizations involved in cancer research. He will take a few more weeks to recover and get back to his full health. However, it is safe to say that cancer just got MOSS’d!
