Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss will step away from Sunday NFL Countdown for an extended time to focus on a personal health challenge. He briefly addressed the matter at the start of the show on December 1. For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating Countdown with his insight and passion. He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.

The six-time NFL Pro Bowler posted the video after concerned fans began to comment on his eyes after his appearance on TV. A humble Moss clarified that he has been sporting sunglasses on live television because he is “battling something” and that it should not be taken as a sign of disrespect.

The 47-year-old veteran is revered as one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history. A four-time First-team All-Pro, six-time Pro Bowler, and an NFL leader in receiving touchdowns on five separate occasions, Moss ended his remarkable career with 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns spending his prime with the Minnesota Vikings and the New England Patriots. Hopefully, Moss can make a speedy recovery and return to television at the earliest.
