Heading into his twentieth WrestleMania, Randy Orton does not know who he’s fighting this weekend. But that’s not an apple of discord, as it’s reportedly in WWE’s plan to bestow a match on The Viper, though his opponent is unknown after Kevin Owens recently announced his neck injury and backed out of his Orton showdown consequently.

After recently turning 45, The Apex Predator has talked about how he’s not taking anything for granted. A part of Orton’s renewed love for the game is the current backstage environment of WWE that is devoid of Vince McMahon. In an admission that may catch many of his fans by surprise, the 14-time World Champion does miss McMahon at the helm.

However, the St. Louis-born wrestler also underscored that a lot has changed for the better since McMahon left, Orton told Complex. The Legend Killer added that the WWE locker rooms are the places to be these days. He believes that the backstage ambience is much more sustainable and healthy than it’s ever been, which is a pat on the back of Orton’s good friend, Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

There’s a part of me that misses the old boss. But so many things have changed for the better.

Since superseding his father-in-law, Vince, in his role as Head of Creative, The Game has changed WWE for the better, though minor issues, pertaining to on-screen direction of certain individuals, prevail. However, one wouldn’t get to hear that people are walking on eggshells with Levesque in the gorilla position, unlike it was during McMahon’s leadership.

Orton has worked with the 79-year-old executive since the day he walked into WWE. Not seeing him around anymore is a different experience for The Viper, but he’s having the time of his life at the moment. On the other hand, the former WWE Chairman has been dealing with a lawsuit filed by Ms. Janel Grant in January 2024.

How longer does Randy Orton intend to stay with WWE?

After being in the pro wrestling business for nearly 25 years, Randy Orton has a resume that many can only dream of. However, he’s also had his struggles with his back, which almost pushed The Apex Predator into premature retirement in 2022. He was out of action for eighteen months and, pretty much at one point, retired.

The doctors told him to hang up his wrestling boots, and hearing this almost six months prior to his back fusion surgery, Orton’s world shattered. Thanks to Dr. Adam Kenter and his team, who finally assured the WWE icon that they’d leave no stone unturned in restoring his pre-injury state and better.

Fortunately, everything fell into place, and Orton was able to make an in-ring comeback at Survivor Series in 2023. He hinted at the end of the PLE in an off-camera moment with the fans that he might have a decade left in him. Orton told Complex that he’d love to re-sign with WWE for another five years after his ongoing deal has run its course.

The former Evolution member knows there’s a cap on how much longer he can go in that ring. Randy wants to make sure he stays in the moment and enjoys every single opportunity he gets to walk out in front of the WWE Universe.

Randy Orton gets candid about Kevin Owens’ injury

As mentioned above, Kevin Owens was set to clash with Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41 before it was taken away. Reacting to what The Prizefighter is about to go through, his heart breaks, said Orton. As someone who’s been on the receiving end of a tantalizing recovery process not that long ago, The Viper knows that it ruptures an individual mentally.

For those wondering, Owens has yet to undergo surgery on his neck, as of April 15. Moreover, Randy has set him up with a second opinion about approaching his physical condition from a surgeon Orton recently worked with. The future WWE HOF’er has advised his on-screen nemesis to make the best decision for himself at this stage of his career.

Kevin will turn 41 in May. And as per a recent report from Fightful, he’s not expected back in WWE until after WrestleMania 42. It comes off as a major setback for anyone expecting him back in less than a year. Kevin revealed that he jarred his neck ina regular match that he had in January.
