‘Cold’ Raphinha pulls up Neymar’s iconic celebration after scoring against Brazilian’s ex-team PSG

While Barcelona mustered an impressive comeback win against Parisian giants PSG in the Champions League, one particular Brazilian took centre stage – Raphinha. The Barcelona No.11 came up clutch against Kylian Mbappe and co., scoring two crucial goals in his teams 3-2 win. While his goals were fully deserving of praise, the winger’s celebration impressed audiences even more!

It is no secret that Neymar Jr. is one of the best to play for both FC Barcelona and PSG. The Brazilian made the move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in the summer and is currently nursing an ACL injury for the last six months or so. Raphinha pulled out his international teammate’s celebration after scoring against his former team on Wednesday night.

Raphinha saw the ball fall at his feet invitingly in the 37th minute, after a save from Gianluigi Donnarumma deflected the course of the ball. The Brazilian wasted no time as he guided the ball to an unguarded net with his weak foot.

He then swiftly imitated Neymar’s celebration, in which he jutted his tongue out and swung both arms beside his face. Raphinha was rightly awarded the Player of the Match for his brace against PSG.

While many may consider Neymar Jr. more of a Barcelona legend than at PSG, it is difficult to call which version of the player was in fact, better. Despite his allegiances to both clubs, he made no secret to conceal his excitement for his international teammate and Barcelona man Raphinha. On a post made by the official Instagram account of the club, Neymar posted a comment, which was an emoji version of his original celebration.

The Spotify Camp Nou, which was witness to Neymar’s classic celebration on several occasions, was reminded of the same on social media. Neymar’s departure from PSG was ‘complicated’ to say the least and it remains to be seen whether he has come to terms with his former employers. The original post featuring Raphinha’s celebration has hundreds of comments mentioning Neymar and his time at Barca.

Neymar’s comment under the post has received next to thirty thousand likes and several hundreds of replies. Many of the comments praised Raphinha for his goal while others hailed Neymar Jr. and his monumental influence at the club. Fans hoped that Raphinha will finally live up to his expectations and replicate at least a fraction of Neymar’s performances for the club.
