LeBron James is one of, if not the greatest, players in basketball history. While he has made a name for himself in the sporting world, he is a popular name in the rap industry, and his name is often mentioned in various songs.

Last week, James faced backlash across social media after he was seen holding a vinyl copy of J. Cole’s latest album “The Fall Off”. This took place when the Los Angeles Lakers visited Miami to take on the Miami Heat.

The popular American rapper made an appearance on the latest episode of 7PM in Brooklyn podcast with Carmelo Anthony and revealed that James was actually doing him a favor.

That was at the Heat game, and he was bringing his vinyl to the Heat game because I was at the Heat game, and I had asked him if he would meet my kid. My oldest is getting into basketball, and Bron is his No. 1, and he asked me all season if he could go to a Laker game. I hit Bron, and he graciously said he would do it. And on his way, he brought ‘The Fall Off’ vinyl; he brought it so I could sign it. Bro, that was the craziest feeling, to see your kids meet a superhero.

J. Cole is an avid follower of basketball and is often seen courtside during NBA games. He was named as the cover athlete for NBA 2K23 on the Dreamer Edition, and was featured in the game as well.

The rapper thanked LeBron James for his wonderful gesture and slammed the critics who labeled the 41-year-old as performative for the gesture. He also added that people should not jump to conclusions before understanding the context and the story behind it. But unfortunately, the internet is an unforgiving place for stars.

The game against the Heat saw the Lakers coming out on top 134-126 at the Kaseya Center. It was a monumental game for James as he tied Robert Parish for the most regular-season appearances in NBA history with 1,611 games. He went on to break the record in his next game against the Orlando Magic.

Fans react to J. Cole defending LeBron James after getting criticized

LeBron James may be the most popular and loved figure in the NBA, but with so much fame comes a lot of hate as well. James has faced criticism and hate ever since he set foot into the NBA in 2003. After calling himself “The chosen one”, the hate has never slowed down.

After J. Cole came to the defense of the four-time champion, fans took to social media to react to it.

Fans were glad to see Cole come out and narrate the whole story. Over the years, social media has evolved into a more toxic space, and unfortunately, it has not slowed down.

LeBron James’ time with the Lakers may come to an end

There has been a lot of noise surrounding James’ future, with his contract coming to an end after this season. While the Lakers remain in contention as they sit at third place in the Western Conference standings, there have been doubts about whether the Lakers could compete against the likes of the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs.

At 41, James is a shell of the defender he once was. He is still playing at a high level offensively as he is averaging 21 points, 5.9 rebounds and 6.9 assists. But there have been critics that he is holding the Lakers back due to his high salary and lack of defense.

James will be among the most coveted players in free agency this offseason. Sam Amick of The Athletic wrote that James was playing his final games in Los Angeles.

As recently as late January, not long after an ESPN report detailed so much of the dysfunction in James’ relationship with the Lakers organization, the widely-held consensus around the league was that there’s no way he’d be back in a Lakers jersey. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors were, and are, often mentioned by league executives as his most likely destinations.

A return to the Cavs would be a fitting ending, as he would return to the club where it all began. However, a move to the Warriors would see James joining forces with one of his greatest rivals, Stephen Curry. Only time will tell what happens next.
