Shakur Stevenson is taking aim at rapper-turned-podcaster Mase (aka Ma$e) for critiquing his last fight. Mase pitched his take on the fight on the latest episode of his and Cam’ron’s It Is What It Is. The pro boxer went on an unforgiving rant for the rapper’s criticism. The rapper duo did not take the lashing lying on their back.

An aspiring Shakur Stevenson is infamous for laying it out on his peers occasionally, but his latest tirade comes on his front. The WBC lightweight defended against Artem Harutyunyan at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. With Harutyunyan going the distance on the offensive, people lambasted his tactile display. Some even booed and left the arena. Now, Cam’ron and Mase slam him for it.

I don’t want to see Shakur fight, I’m just gonna be honest, ...No disrespect to Newark, but I don’t wanna see Shakur fight nobody. For him to be hanging out with Terence Crawford and Andre Ward, there is absolutely no way that he’s fighting the way he’s fighting...

Stevenson clapped back at Cam’ron and Mase on X, saying that he felt the same about their rap careers. His initial displacement from boxing did not even put a dent in fans. Stevenson (22-0, 10KOs) has a defensive rhythm.

Even boxers like Floyd Mayweather, who made defensive roll and boxing a sweet-sweet science, have faced criticism for lack of offenses. The Newark native went on a tweet-spree wrath. Cam’ron hits him back for it.

Listen, bro...I'ma be honest with you...Like my n**ga. Four hours tweeting about me and Mase is wow! You boring n**ga! You boring...Everyone is seeing it. We ain't the only ones.

Users of social media were quick to correct Stevenson, defending Mase’s career and pointing out accolades. The Is What It Is Instagram account also retorted back that, like him or not, the rapper sold five million copies. As a result, he went “quadruple platinum” when the boxer wasn’t even a thing. Nonetheless, Stevenson isn’t backing down.

Shakur Stevenson goes on the offensive, finally…

Shakur Stevenson has been taking big L’s even when he wins. With just 8412 people attending and a big chunk leaving, the dwindling support is evident. Take what combat sports insider Ariel Helwani (MMAFighting on SBN) notes. June’s early pay-per-view, UFC 302: Makhachev vs Poirier, took place Live from Prudential Center as well. A mammoth 17,834 attended the show. Meanwhile, boxing’s top bill couldn’t do the same.

Sure, MMA and boxing cards operate differently. Nevertheless, pro boxers have a lot of linear skill-to-skill on display to keep the crowd and promotion masters engaged. Stevenson could have scored a stoppage over Harutyunyan (13-2, 7 KOs) in R6. But he lacked significant power and did not bend his knee much.

For an Olympian opponent, it was easy to go out-range and break the momentum. However, the boxer refuses to take criticism and puts a blast on Cam’ron and Mase for voicing the consensus opinion.

In later rounds, Stevenson’s corner pleaded to press on, but fans noticed he couldn’t or didn’t want to. While he douses warring words against Vasiliy Lomachenko, Gervonta Davis, and Ryan Garcias of the world, fans are weirded with his technical style of running and evading masterfully. The undefeated boxer opting for the free agent market instead of a $15 million offer might end up hurting him in the long run.
