There are still many hours to go before the NBA trade deadline for the 2024-25 season passes. However, there have been several trades so far that have led to fans believing the landscape of the league is changing. But it seems teams are still looking at possibilities, with the latest being Brandon Ingram.

Brandon Ingram was one of the players who was long rumored to move on from the New Orleans Pelicans. The franchise has struggled with how the team performs when all their stars are available. Therefore, it was possible they would not make changes to further improve their lineup.

The likes of Zion Williamson are untouchable, which meant, the team would look to move other pieces. After several teams were rumored to be in place to trade for Brandon Ingram, Shams Charania updated where is finally heading to.

The New Orleans Pelicans have traded Brandon Ingram to the Toronto Raptors for Bruce Brown Jr., Kelly Olynyk, one first-round pick and one second-rounder, sources tell ESPN.

This meant, the 27-year-old Ingram was joining the Toronto Raptors. In exchange, the Pelicans were getting Bruce Brown Jr., Kelly Olynyk and a couple of picks. Considering Ingram’s expiring contract, this was a good haul for the Pelicans as they can regroup and think about who to draft next season.

Next season, they can use that 1st round pick to draft a suitable future replacement and regroup. They also have a second rounder which they can use in any future trades or even if they want to move up a few places in the draft. With their perilous season, they could make a play for Duke sensation Cooper Flagg.

Fans lose their minds over Brandon Ingram trade

But for basketball fans, one thing stuck out. The Pelicans received the same amount of first round picks for Brandon Ingram as the Dallas Mavericks received for sending Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. That also brings forth the trade for Mikal Bridges when the New York Knicks sent five 1st rounders.
