Raquel Gonzalez gets a shot at the WWE NXT Women’s title

WWE has planned an eventful week in the build-up to Wrestlemania 37. Just like Wrestlemania this year, NXT’s TakeOver: Stand & Deliver too will be a two-night affair and air during the Wrestlemania week.

Seemingly all the matches for the two-night event have been announced. But one of the matches that has got the WWE Universe all hyped up is the WWE NXT Women’s Championship. Io Shirai will be defending her title against Raquel Gonzalez.

On the go-home episode of NXT for Stand & Deliver, Shirai and Gonzalez brawled throughout the episode. In fact, in the final segment of the episode, the entire NXT women’s division locker room had to come out to stop the duo.

A couple of weeks ago, NXT GM William Regal unveiled the new WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship. Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai were named the inaugural Champions. But surprisingly, they lost their titles on the same night to Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart.

This move confused the fans as they couldn’t see the reason for their tenure being shorter than the episode. But later it was revealed that Gonzalez will be getting a shot at the Women’s Championship. In fact, current Champion Io Shirai herself selected Gonzalez as her next opponent.
