Jalen Brunson and Jaylen Brown are two of the most well-known names in the Eastern Conference. Despite playing in separate teams and having different attributes, they are phenomenal players in their own right. However, some still feel that both stars are on the same level. Indeed, this was the viewpoint of former NBA veteran Rashad McCants lately.

The 39-year-old was speaking on the Gil’s Arena Show when he weighed in on the topic. McCants and Gilbert Arenas debated whether Brown should be regarded on the same tier as Brunson. To this effect, the ex-player argued that there’s nothing the Knicks star does, that the Celtics star cannot do.

One has the ball more than the other. Yes, If Brown has the ball just as much as Brunson, his production goes up.
Rashad McCants said

According to him, the more balls are handled by Jaylen Brown, he will equally be dominant as Brunson in games. McCants further asserted that Brown would create the same impact on the court as the Knicks talisman if that happens. In theory, though, he doesn’t sound too out of line.

However, a small sample size doesn’t negate years of proof. Brown was criticized for not having the strength to drive left until the 2024 playoffs. Jalen Brunson on the other hand, is the clear leader in terms of possessions. The New York Knicks captain carried the load for two seasons. Brown did that for two playoff series only. Therefore, claiming he’d perform the same way carrying the primary point guard duties is worth questioning.

Jaylen Brown heaped praise on Jayson Tatum after NBA Finals win

The Boston Celtics ran out victorious against the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals to clinch the championship. It was a historic win for the franchise, who added a record 18th league title to their collection. Following that, Jaylen Brown took a moment to appreciate teammate Jayson Tatum for his contributions.

Speaking shortly after that game, the 3-time All-Star acknowledged Tatum while stating the MVP award could have gone to him.

Jayson, I can't talk enough about his selflessness. I can't talk enough about his attitude. It's just how he approached not just this series or the Finals but just the playoffs in general.
Jaylen Brown said

Tatum is one of the important players on the Celtics roster, and he dropped pivotal performances during their playoff run. As such, it would have been heartwarming to see his teammate giving him a shout-out. Nonetheless, as the Celtics prepare to defend their title this season, the duo will look to continue their partnership.
