One of the biggest highlights this offseason related to the reigning Super Bowl champions has been wide receiver Rashee Rice’s criminal charges. With his name involved in another criminal case, it appears there’s no need for that saga. 

The Kansas City Chiefs wideout, who is already facing eight felony charges for a multi-car crash in Dallas a month ago, is now being investigated for allegedly assaulting a photographer at a nightclub in Dallas, as reported by local TV station WFAA via police sources. The Dallas police are currently interviewing the witnesses from the scene of the crime at Lit Kitchen. 

There were already reports about the NFL potentially considering serious disciplinary action against the first-year wide receiver, and with these additional charges, Rice’s future in the league appears to be at stake. Given, during the draft weekend, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the NFL is awaiting the legal process to “move through” on Rice, before taking action against him under the league’s Personal Conduct Policy.

Until the court proceedings conclude, the Super Bowl champion has been participating in the Chiefs’ workout with Patrick Mahomes, via virtual meetings. The franchise has till May 20 to decide whether Rice will be on the active roster for the upcoming NFL season or not. 

However, they are moving to keep the latter situation in mind, as they made two splashy moves in terms of wide receivers by signing Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in free agency and drafting Xavier Worthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft.

When the news about Rice fled the scene of the Dallas car crash without even thinking about helping the others injured, fans got furious and expressed his displeasure on social media. Even though the wide receiver apologized for his behavior, they weren’t convinced at all.

Instead of being angry with the receivers, fans are mocking him on social media about how he is ruining his career after winning a Super Bowl in his first year. They urged him to stay home and stay lowkey for some time. With this new case involving Rice, it appears fans are not disappointed in the receiver but rather expected this from him.
