The car accident on the Dallas interstate keeps Rashee Rice awake at night. That doesn’t mean he has run away from his duties as a Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver.
Rice often arrives first at the Chiefs’ training camp at St. Joseph University to create a rapport with new wide receiver additions Tyquan Thornton and Jalen Royals.
Cameras caught the third-year wideout chatting with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, veteran JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Texas graduate Xavier Worthy.

The receivers practiced catching drills and a 7v7 match, split into two teams. It was a great day of training for the Chiefs, with a couple of injuries and a fight involving rookie OT Josh Simmons.
After practice ended, Rice faced the media, and one of the reporters asked him for an update on the pending court case regarding the hit-and-run on a Dallas highway last year.
Honestly, it’s still in the works. My legal team is handling that. All I can do is focus on what I can control right now, and that’s me doing what I do best right here on the field.
In March 2024, Rice and a couple of his friends totaled two civilian vehicles while riding their Lamborghini. Footage from the dashcam showed Rice and his friends leaving the scene without even making an effort to check on the affected.

Rice later surrendered and pled guilty to a pair of third-degree felonies in Dallas County District Court. A judge at the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office sentenced Rice to five years of deferred probation and 30 days in jail as a condition of his probation. The 25-year-old was also ordered to pay nearly $115,500 to cover the victims’ medical costs.
The league remains aware of the situation. Rice could face a 5- to 7-game suspension for his rowdiness. However, the starting date of his punishment will be announced later.
Rashee Rice opens up about his injury woes
The Chiefs’ camp was dealt a massive blow in week four last season. Mahomes’ unintentional collision with Rice sent the SMU graduate to the hospital.

Rice tore his hamstring and LCL. He underwent surgery that kept him out of the team for the rest of the campaign.
Fortunately for the Chiefs Kingdom, Rice looks to be in great shape. He attended both phases one and two of the OTAs, along with the minicamp.
Rice was among the first to arrive at the Chiefs’ training camp on day one. Goldman asked Rice to describe the condition of his knee after Saturday’s practice. Rice revealed he feels 100% ready to take over where he left off.

The Chiefs bolstered their offense with the additions of Thornton and Royals.
We’ve got a lot of playmakers on the field. I’m excited for my brother next to me to get the ball. I’m going to block as hard for him, knowing he’s going to do the same for me.

Justyn Watson was waived early on, but veteran star Travis Kelce is still around and is as agile as ever. According to head coach Andy Reid, Kelce appears to be a 20-year-old instead of 35.

Kelce was on the cusp of retirement, but changed his mind because he aims to bow out with a Super Bowl win and not a defeat.
