Many football fans felt that the Baltimore Ravens lost to the Kansas City Chiefs due to Isaiah Likely‘s toe on the line. But that last ditch effort was a result of the pressure Lamar Jackson, and his teammates were on after OT Ronnie Stanley was called for multiple penalties. The NFL’s efforts to clamp down on illegal formations seemed to have gone too far.

Reporters asked the former All-Pro tackle about those penalties after the game. Standing in the Ravens locker room, the 30-year-old didn’t pull punches.

We knew that they were going to make a new emphasis on the illegal formations. It didn't feel consistent with what we were told from other the refs earlier on. I thought it was a little different. The way it was going through the game, I really feel like they were trying to make an example and chose me to be the one to do that. And as far as I saw, they weren't doing it on both sides of the ball.

Ronnie Stanley believed he had a good position on most of the penalties the referees called. That’s why he feels they were setting him as an example to the league.

Last season it was his opposite Jawaan Taylor of the Kansas City Chiefs who was called that many penalties. But what Stanley has a problem with is the alleged bias-ness. He felt Taylor and other Chiefs O-linemen were also guilty of illegal formations. But surprisingly to everyone in the footballing world, the referees did not call those.

If anything, Stanley understands that the NFL is trying to clamp down on illegal formations. But if the referees call the game fairly, he knows the final scoreboard will reflect it. His Baltimore Ravens could have won the game.

Ronnie Stanley and Baltimore Ravens could use chip on their shoulders

Ronnie Stanley’s teammate Isaiah Likely lit up the internet with his taunt towards the Kansas City Chiefs. With his own understanding of how it transpired for him, the offense seems to have found a chip on their shoulder. They know it was more of a Lamar Jackson show than what they did collectively.

If they can find those improvements going forward, the NFL better watch out. Add in the defense, whose leader Roquan Smith also felt the Chiefs won due to reasons other than playing football, it could be a sign of things to come.

The team as a whole could use this collective chip on their shoulder. Next stop against the Las Vegas Raiders could be the perfect game to show what they are truly capable of. If this team gets going, the Chiefs should expect to face them again in the postseason.
