Baltimore Ravens rookie CB Nate Wiggins is officially ruled out for the Week 2 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. The cornerback is said to have been involved in an unfortunate car accident causing a severe neck injury.
Nate Wiggins made his debut for the Ravens last Thursday amid the loss to Kansas City Chiefs. Wiggins missed this Thursday’s practice and wasn’t seen on the field the following day with the injury. He wasn’t listed in the injury report until Thursday. It was initially assumed he picked up some injury during practice on Wednesday.
Ravens HC John Harbaugh gave more insights into the situation. He assured the reporters that the 21-year-old Wiggins is fine and healthy but will miss the play, at least in Week 2.
Nate was in a car accident a couple days ago. They were kind of working through it. Looks like he's not going to be able to make it to the game, so he'll be out for the game. He's fine, he's healthy, he's fine, but not going to be able to play.John Harbaugh said to reporters

Ravens’ defensive coordinator Zach Orr also spoke about the cornerback’s situation. He also assured the safety of the rookie CB while praising his ability and hopes for a long future.
Nate's going to be fine. Nate's going to play a lot of football for us. He's going to play a lot of great football for us.Zach Orr said
Wiggins was drafted No. 30 overall by the Baltimore Ravens from the Clemson Tigers. Wiggins, hailing from Georgia, was instrumental in the Tigers’ 2022 ACC Championship victory opposite Drake Maye‘s collegiate team. He was a sociology major with a focus on business.
Ravens’ defense setbacks with Nate Wiggins out
The Ravens will miss Nate Wiggins as they play the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The rookie played impressively against the defending champions in the “revenge game.” Wiggins had secured a place in people’s good graces despite the loss. He recorded 17 defensive snaps and 11 special teams snaps.
The Raiders are no Chiefs but the Ravens defense will have to pick up the slack from the first game. They have lost three key people from the defensive side in the offseason, including their defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald. The team’s key players like Roquan Smith and Kyle Hamilton failed to take advantage and tackle their opponents.
Wiggins was a shining silver amid the misconnected game, watched by around 29 million people. He was the third-best performer on the Ravens’ defense, with PFF grading him 76.0. The Ravens will hope that Wiggins gets better soon as Ravens face Super Bowl contenders Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and Cincinnati Bengals in quick succession after Week 2.
