Mark Andrews finally broke his silence about his horror night in Buffalo after remaining silent for a few days. The Baltimore Ravens’ veteran tight end needed time to recollect his thoughts and then make his stance clear about the crucial dropped catch against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional round.
Baltimore fans and analysts wanted a reaction from Andrews after the game, but he was AWOL. FS1’s Emmanuel Acho called the 29-year-old out for ducking on his fans, stating that Andrews must do the right thing by giving his fans some closure.
On Thursday, Andrews shared a long message on Instagram. He apologized for the dropped two-point catch in the final moments and claimed he was gutted.
Andrews had an uncharacteristically bad outing in the Bills game. He fumbled a pass near the halfway mark before the drop with just under two minutes left until the final whistle. According to ESPN research, it was the first time since 2019 that the All-Pro athlete made such a mistake.
Mark Andrews promised to return stronger
Andrews is the senior tight end on the Ravens team and one of the main receivers for quarterback Lamar Jackson. The locker room needs such players to take care of the newbies on the team.
It’s unwise to just cut such a player because of one mistake, even if it cost them an AFC Championship fixture against the Kansas City Chiefs. Andrews promised that he would return stronger, mentally and physically, in 2025.
Andrews signed a four-year contract extension worth $56 million in 2021 (the highest-paid tight end at that time. Now it’s Chiefs Travis Kelce), including a $10,163,055 signing bonus, $37,583,055 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $14,000,000. He will earn $7,000,000 as a base salary and $2,032,611 as a bonus, has a cap hit of $16,907,611, and a dead cap of $5,907,611.
