- The Baltimore Ravens expressed interest in signing both Maxx Crosby and Trey Hendrickson this offseason.
- Maxx Crosby's trade to the Ravens was canceled after he failed a physical, returning him to the Raiders.
- Trey Hendrickson signed a four-year, $112 million contract with the Ravens, including $60 million guaranteed.
Just a few days ago, Maxx Crosby and Trey Hendrickson were the most coveted pass rushers in this NFL offseason, with both of them receiving enough interest from teams looking to make a splash.
Getting either of them comes with a level of risk, as the Las Vegas Raiders star is approaching age 29 and has a knee injury on top of that, which should keep him out of at least the first few training camps.
The former Cincinnati Bengals star, on the other hand, is at an age where pass rushers do not command a premium anymore, which is why his previous team released him, instead of agreeing to a longer contract.
However, neither of these constraints seemed to have bothered the Baltimore Ravens, who, by GM Eric DeCosta‘s own admission, were looking to sign both of these veterans.
We came to a point, probably after we lost Tyler… Trey kind of made a lot of sense… So we started some discussions with he and his agent, thinking that we could have two pass rushers on the defensive line.
Eric DeCosta said, as revealed by SportsCenter
The general manager admits he and his staff were looking at the possibility of signing Trey Hendrickson off the free agent market, while also completing the trade for Maxx Crosby.
"We started some discussions with [Trey Hendrickson] and his agent thinking that potentially we have two pass rushers on the defensive line."

The latter situation turned 180 degrees when the Michigan native failed his physical, after which the Ravens canceled the trade, returning Crosby to the Raiders, and received their two first-round picks back.
Ravens hand out massive contract to Trey Hendrickson
While Maxx Crosby was making his trip back to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Baltimore Ravens were being annihilated on social media for potentially having cold feet after initially signing off on the trade.
Across the football spectrum, rumors were rife that Eric DeCosta and his staff were not convinced with their decision once they realized they had some question marks over the five-time Pro Bowler’s injury.
But as those discussions raged across every media platform, the GM was busy working his way to ensure his team had a premier sack artist to bank on next season.
Ravens and Trey Hendrickson reached agreement on a four-year, $112 million contract.

This news came out as a bombshell, especially as the football world was still wrapping its head around Maxx Crosby’s dead trade to Baltimore, and that the former Bengals star was heavily linked to the Dallas Cowboys.
Trey Hendrickson’s four-year deal worth up to $120 million with the Ravens includes $60 million fully guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus.

For 8, 10, 12 and 14 sacks per season, he also gets an additional $500,000 for each threshold he meets. https://t.co/jiVnKHK4UX
The ESPN Insider also revealed that the Ravens will be handing $60 million in guaranteed money to the Florida native, while also inserting incentives that could help Trey Hendrickson earn $120 million by the time this contract is over.
Maxx Crosby sends message to football world after canceled trade
With Trey Hendrickson off the market, the Las Vegas Raiders have found themselves in a pickle. On one hand, they have committed to signing those they thought would be Maxx Crosby‘s replacements.

On the other hand, they also have to accommodate the 6’5″ star, who has returned home with his family. Even though Crosby’s trade market is still open, rumors are spreading about his injury concerns.

This was the father of one’s post on the social media platform, reminding his fans that the rumors floating around might not be the true reasons for him not moving to the Baltimore Ravens, or being a candidate to be traded sometime this offseason.

It seems he wants the rumor mills to stop, as there could be something that he and the respective teams know that fans and members of the media have no clue about.
