Former India head coach, Ravi Shastri, lauded Indian fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah has been sensational in his career and is definitely the best bowler across formats in world cricket. Bumrah was at his best in the recently concluded T20 World Cup. He picked up 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 in the event. He had an unbelievable economy rate of of just 4.17 and was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament.

Shastri lauded Bumrah for his exceptional skills and his ability to control the flow of the game. He felt that the ball obeyed what Bumrah wanted to do in the World Cup. He especially mentioned his performance in the India vs Pakistan game and the T20 World Cup final.

He (Bumrah) just showed the world what it takes…and you know, it's not often in your career when you have a ball in your hand and you say, 'do this and the ball does that'. I think the India-Pakistan (match) because India were made to fight there and realize what the right combination should be going forward in the tournament. That and then of course the (T20 World Cup) final, those final five overs.

Jasprit Bumrah was outstanding in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Bumrah became the bowler with the lowest economy rate in a single edition of the T20 World Cup with 5 matches played. The best performance of Bumrah was against Afghanistan where he picked up 3 wickets by giving away just 7 runs in his spell. He gave away 14 runs and picked up 3 wickets in the match against Pakistan and was instrumental in India defending just 119 runs in the game against Pakistan in New York.

In the final against South Africa, he gave 18 runs and picked up 2 wickets in his spell. Bumrah scalped the wicket of Reeza Hendricks at the start with a gem of a ball that pitched on the good length and moved away a tad to beat Hendricks’ defence and crash on the stumps.

In the end, when South Africa were at a comfortable position, he bowled a gem of an over and also picked up the wicket of Marco Jansen to bring India back in the game. He gave away just 6 runs in his final two overs. India managed to come back miraculously and beat South Africa to win the T20 World Cup 2024.
