Rishabh Pant has been an aggressive cricketer right from the time he made his debut in international cricket. He has been especially successful in Test cricket with the wide range of shots and the audacious strokes that he has played. Pant is known to take the game by the scruff of the neck and changes momentum towards his own team with his swashbuckling innings.
He has been widely successful in all parts of the world, but on many occasions, he has been criticised for his overly aggressive and needless strokes, which have cost him his wicket. Recently, the former Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin talked about Pant and his career in a video on his YouTube channel.
Ashwin feels that Pant has got one of the best defences in the world cricket and plays with soft hands. He also recalled bowling to him in the nets on several occasions and how easily he defended the deliveries. Ashwin has tried to state the same on many occasions.
We must realise that Rishabh Pant rarely gets out playing a defence. He’s got one of the best defences in world cricket. Defence has become a challenging aspect, he has the best defence with a soft hand. I have bowled to him a lot in the nets, he’s not gotten out, he doesn’t get an edge, he doesn’t get LBW, he has the best defence. I have tried telling it to him.

Ravichandran Ashwin feels that Rishabh Pant has still not realised his full potential
Ashwin talked about Pant’s performance in the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. He feels that the team management needs to clear it out to him that they need him to bat solidly or play with intent. The off-spinner also feels that Pant has not yet realised his full potential.

He talked about how he also has a good defence, and if he goes on to play 200 deliveries, he will score a century in every game. Ashwin strongly pointed out that Pant needs to adopt a balanced strategy to be more successful.
