Bundesliga: RB Leipzig vs VFB Stuttgart Player Ratings as Leipzig clinch a dominant victory

RB Leipzig vs VFB Stuttgart

What a match this has been for RB Leipzig as they thump VfB Stuttgart by 4-0. After facing a disappointing loss in their season opener Leipzig couldn’t have asked for a better follow-up game to their campaign.

Leipzig looked confident right from the word go and were looking in really good shape as they didn’t give the ball away and when the opportunity struck, they made the most of it. They started off the match well with a first-half goal from Dominik Szoboszlai and did the best follow-up with three goals in the second.

In the end, Szoboszlai ended with a brace while Emil Forsberg & André Silva contributed with a goal each to make it 4-0. With this win, they went up to the third spot in the points table.

That commanding win was certainly possible only because of the tremendous performance by the entire team. With that said, let’s look into how the players performed.

RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig vs Vfb Stuttgart

Péter Gulácsi (8.1/10) : Péter Gulácsi made exceptional saves throughout the match. It was a difficult match for the Stuttgart forwards as they found it too difficult to go past him. His five saves made a huge difference.

Willi Orbán (7.0/10): Willi played a supportive role on the right side and did a commendable job in the first half. His Ariel duels really helped the side save several attempts at their goal.

Lukas Klostermann (7.5/10): Lukas was an integral part of the defensive unit and handled the extreme right with ease. He managed to defend and create immense trouble for the Stuttgart forwards.

Mohamed Simakan (7.7/10): He was a tough nut to crack in the middle on the left side. His nine ground duel wins and two Ariel duels made a massive statement about his character on-field.

Josko Gvardiol (7.6/10): The defence unit of Leipzig was on fire and Josko had a part to play in that. He outmuscled the forwards on several occasions and was great at winning the battle of tackles.

Tyler Adams (6.9/10): The midfielder was all over the place and was always present where the ball was. However, he lost a total of 16 possessions which was a bad giveaway in a dominant match.

Amadou Haidara (6.8/10): Amadou had a decent outing. He didn’t have much to contribute to the match and was eventually subbed in the 69th minute.

Christopher Nkunku (7/10): Nkunku was very aggressive with his footwork and skills on the left wing close to the opponent’s half. He won 7 ground duels but lost possession as many as 16 times.

Emil Forsberg (8.3/10): Forsberg made the crowd go berserk as he contributed with an impressive goal into the back of the net, resulting in a 4-0 win. The captain led from the front and kept the good run throughout the course of the game and proved to be very effective overall.

Dominik Szoboszlai (8.9/10): Szoboszlai had a top match as he started the proceedings for Leipzig with their first goal of the match in the first half. He followed with another in the second half to complete his brace. He was all over the place and dominated the opponent’s half with sheer excellence.

André Silva (8.2/10): Silva too was among the three goalscorers in today’s encounter. He was called in too early but had already made a huge impact with his goal. His pace was something that caught the eyes of everyone on the field.

Substitutes:

Nordi Mukiele (6.8/10): Nordi managed to get 14 minutes of play on the field in which he contributed with hardly 12 passes. He replaced Willi Orbán on the field in the 76th minute.

Marcel Sabitzer (6.4/10): Marcel replaced Haidara in the 69th minute to get 21 minutes of play. He had a 100% passing accuracy in his short stint while he tried creating a fifth goal opportunity that went off target.

Konraid Laimer (6.6/10): Konraid came in to replace the double goal scorer Szoboszlai in the 69th minute. Since his arrival till the end, he failed to win major duels but provided a great supporting hand to block out the Stuttgart attackers in the midfield.

Hee-Chan Hwang (6/10): Hee-Chan replaced André Silva in the 69th minute. Although he didn’t get much of an opportunity to make an impact as he barely got two passes to give away.

Yussuf Poulsen (6/10): Came in with 8 minutes remaining for play. Like a few others, he didn’t get much opportunity to provide any valuable contribution on the pitch.

VfB Stuttgart

Florian Müller (6.9/10): Müller had an awful day on the pitch as he gave away four goals in total. He lacked confidence and communication with his defensive unit and failed to make saves.

Walder Anton (6.1/10): Walder Anton didn’t have a great match as his coordination with other defenders was extremely disappointing. This lack of performance resulted in the team’s tormenting loss.

Marc-Oliver Kempf (6.3/10): Despite having a result that didn’t go in his team’s favour, Marc-Oliver did a decent job at duels & tackles. However, his skills didn’t help the team in the quest to battle the four conceded goals.

Konstantinos Mavropanos (6.5/10): It was a busy and long day on the pitch as Konstantinos was in charge of the left side of the half. In quest of saving goals, he earned himself a yellow card. With that and the miscommunication with other players, they gave away four crucial goals.

Borna Sosa (7/10): Sosa played the entire match for Stuttgart but didn’t create much of an impact. He only managed 25 complete passes and won just a single Ariel duel. His skills didn’t prove effective as more than half of the possession stayed with RB Leipzig.

Wataru Endo (7.2/10): The captain did all he could but was struggling with a lack of support in the middle. He did attempt on creating good chances but weren’t troublesome for the opposing team.

Phillip Klement (7.1/10): Phillip had a lot of balls to him and his pace stood out from others. However, he never managed to create any opportunities for a goal.

Roberto Massimo (6.6/10): Massimo struggled throughout the game as he lost as many as 13 balls and failed at winning most of his duels. It was a tough day for the footballer.

Philipp Förster (6.7/10): Förster made some quick turns and passes to create trouble but didn’t do it on a larger scale. He was good with the duels but wasn’t enough for securing a good result.

Mateo Klimowicz (6.5/10): Another forward who had a tough-luck in the game. Mateo hardly got the ball towards him as Leipzig held possession for most of the match.

Hamadi Al Ghaddioui (5.8/10): The Striker managed to get just 45 minutes of play before getting subbed. He hardly got any time on the pitch to make an impact but didn’t make the most of the chances he got.

Substitutes:

Enzo Millot (6.6/10): Coming in, in the 73rd minute, Enzo managed to pick up a couple of duel wins, both Ariel and ground. However, he looked confident to take on the opponents despite what the scoresheet read.

Erik Thommy (6.5/10): Erik only got nine minutes to play out in the middle. It wasn’t a lot of time to make a point but he did make a statement with his agility and determination towards each opposition pass that came in.

Daniel Didavi (6.4/10): He replaced striker Hamadi and played the complete second-half. He found himself helpless due to the lack of through balls and zero to none chances created at goal.

Sasa Kalajdzic (6.4/10): Sasa was nowhere to be seen on the field except for a few duels against the Leipzig forwards. He didn’t have the control on the ball much courtesy of the possession being in the favour of RB Leipzig.
