On 15th April, Sunrisers Hyderabad created history as they smacked the highest IPL total against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They broke their own record of 277 runs as they hit the hosts for 287 runs.
At the toss, Pat Cummins claimed the par score at the Chinnaswamy Stadium was 240 and his team proceeded to score 47 runs more. Their onslaught was spearheaded by Travis Head, who scored a fifty in just 20 balls in the powerplay. He finished the innings with a century, taking just 39 balls to reach his maiden IPL ton.
Head was supported by Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klassen, who scored 34 and 67. Klassen enjoyed his time in the middle, as he hit seven sixes and two boundaries. At the end of the innings, Abdul Samad smacked 37 off just 10 balls as he and Aiden Markram took SRH to 287.
Nineteen days earlier, SRH had hit Mumbai Indians for 277 runs but have now broken their own record. It is the highest IPL total of all time and the 2nd highest T20 score of all time. Before the start of the season, RCB held the record for the highest IPL total but have now become the team to concede the highest total. They are also the team to post the lowest IPL total (49) of all time.

RCB have now been mocked by fans around the globe as they are hit for 287 runs. Many mocked the team’s poor bowling performance as they were hit for 22 sixes and 19 boundaries. The fans were in awe of the brilliant hitting by the SRH stars.

RCB began their chase well, with Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis scoring 79 in the powerplay. Kohli didn’t stay long though, as he was dismissed by Mayank Markande for 42 runs. Du Plessis scored a fifty, but it wasn’t enough as Pat Cummins got him in the 10th over. He also got youngster Saurav Chauhan for a duck.
