Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Real Madrid forward and 2024 Ballon d’Or runner-up Vinicius Jr. is set to make his return from a hamstring injury. The Italian manager revealed that the 24-year-old Brazilian might feature in the club’s upcoming UCL encounter against Atalanta.

Vinicius Jr. had sustained a biceps femoris injury during Los Blancos’ match against Leganes back in November. The injury was expected to keep him out of action for at least a month. However, the 24-year-old forward is making an early return after having most recently trained with the squad. In his absence, Real Madrid lost two out of their three matches against Liverpool, Getafe, and Athletic Bilbao.

Vini’s return will be a major boost for the club, as the Brazilian has been the top scorer with 15 goals this season. Speaking to reporters at a press conference, manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that the Brazilian starlet is ready to make his return next week. However, he added that Vini would miss the trip to Girona.

He exclaimed that the forward has recovered well and could be in line to play against Atalanta. Additionally, Ancelotti also spoke about David Alaba’s return from injury. Despite the Austrian having recently trained with the squad, the Italian expressed that he might have to wait until next year to regain full fitness.

Seeing Vinicius is good news, he has recovered very well. He won’t be ready for tomorrow, but he will be ready for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, with Vinicius Jr. now set to return to the side alongside fellow Brazilian Rodrygo, it would be a sigh of relief for misfiring Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman has struggled in their absence, with his recent displays against Liverpool and Athletic Bilbao being the poorest.

Kylian Mbappe could be surprisingly dropped by Carlo Ancelotti from Real Madrid’s starting XI

In a surprising turn of events, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti hinted at dropping Kylian Mbappe from the club’s starting XI for their upcoming matches. The 25-year-old has been struggling this season and has scored just thrice in his last seven La Liga appearances.

Mbappe endured two poor outings against Liverpool and Athletic Club, missing a penalty in each of the matches. Ancelotti revealed that the ex-PSG star is well aware of his slump. He also added that Mbappe knows that he is not playing at his best. However, he praised the Frenchman for improving his speed and intensity. The Italian hinted at resting Mbappe for a few matches, as he feels that it might benefit him.

He is aware of this because he spoke out after the match and we are with him… It doesn’t mean that he has to play every game, sometimes he can benefit from a rest.

Los Blancos will definitely hope for the 25-year-old to return to his past form. He had already scored ten goals and provided two assists in 20 matches this season. Mbappe joined the club from French giants PSG in the summer.
